Oil Analysis

The practice of in-service oil analysis or used oil analysis started over a century ago on locomotive engines.

Now it is one of the most important components of condition based maintenance (CBM), a practice of assessing a machine’ s condition by periodically gathering data on a key machine health indicators to determine maintenance schedules.

Lubricating Oil is the life blood of oil wetted machinery. “In Service Oil Analysis” can provide information about machine wear condition, lubricant contamination as well as lubricant condition.  Elemental Analysis remains the main technology of Oil Analysis.

The RotrOil product line from GNR is the main solution for Rotating Disc Electrode (RDE-OES), which is the solution of choice for Oil Analysis when rapid and no sample preparation is needed.

RotrOil is compliant with:

  • ASTM D6595 Standard Test Method for determination of Wear Metals and Contaminants in used lubricating oils or used hydraulic fluids by Rotating Disc Electrode Atomic Emission Spectrometry
  • ASTM D6728 Standard Test Method for determination of contaminants in gas turbine and diesel engine fuel by Rotating Disc Electrode Atomic Emission Spectrometry
