The future of infrastructure safety lies in research: the appointment is at SMAR 2024 with the EDGE diffractometer, produced by GNR and developed in collaboration with SINA Spa
The 7th International Conference on Smart Monitoring, Assessment and Rehabilitation of Civil Structures will feature a presentation by GNR’s Commercial Director Luigi Pisani. Below are the event details.
SMAR 2024 is the 7th International Conference on Smart Monitoring, Assessment and Rehabilitation of Civil Structures. It will be held in Salerno from September 4th to 6th. SMAR 2024 is jointly organized by the University of Salerno (UniSA), Italy, and the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa), Switzerland.
What is the purpose of the event? SMAR 2024 aims to provide a forum for international scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and infrastructure managers to present and discuss the state-of-the-practice and recent advances in testing and monitoring technology, structural modeling and assessment methods, and the application of advanced materials for structural rehabilitation.
Topics:
- Structural health monitoring
- Performance and damage assessment
- Damage control
- Structural strengthening and repair
- Durability issues related to harsh environments
- Shape memory alloys in civil structures
- Practical applications and case studies
- Visionary concepts
GNR will participate with a presentation by our Commercial Director, Luigi Pisani, titled “X-ray Diffraction Application for Tensile Evaluation of Pre and Post Tensional Bridge Cables.”
This presentation stems from our involvement in research on the evaluation of residual stresses on bridge tensioning cables, in collaboration with Sina Spa and several research centers participating in the Fabre consortium, such as the Polytechnic University of Turin, the University of Pisa, and the University of Padua.
The instrument used for these measurements is the Edge, in a specific configuration developed and produced by GNR based on operational guidelines from Sina Spa, the engineering company of the ASTM Group, the second largest operator of toll road networks in the world and a global player in major infrastructure projects.
Join us to explore the latest innovations in civil structure monitoring and rehabilitation. See you in Salerno!
